Inside the NYPD’s Surveillance Machine
Project co-lead for the multi-award nominated investigation and web app, Inside the NYPD’s Surveillance Machine. When Amnesty International asked the NYPD to publish data on its use of facial recognition technology, it refused. With the help of more than 7K digital volunteers, we used Google Street View to map the surveillance cameras that feed the software. The resulting web app is a collaboration with the Dutch design studio, Superposition.
